Julia Weavers is the award winning creator of 'Bears by Julia'. Based in Essex, Julia makes bears that are individually hand stitched and traditional in nature. A former nursing sister, Julia took up bear making in 2002 but was well practised in all forms of needlework, knitting and sewing before she started school! She has even taught herself the art of lace making, as she puts it, "To learn a new skill". Now a busy mother and grandma, Julia likes to spend any spare time redesigning her large garden, helping friends with their haberdashery and collecting bears made by other artists. She likes bears with character, especially those made by artists who are new to bear making because she says they have a 'naivety' about them that she likes.
