G-Rumpy bears are created by Jane Wellman who is based in Hertfordshire but soon moving closer to us in Suffolk, the county 'next door'. Jane has been making bears since 1998 and concentrates on small Limited Editions, in sizes ranging from 4 to 18 inches and in a variety of fabrics. All her bears have the G-Rumpy 'trademark' Smile, to make You smile. Before making bears Jane trained as a ballet dancer and appeared in many West End shows. She played 'Jemima' in "Cats" and 'Polly Brown' in "The Boyfriend". Jane is married to the singer Paul Leonard. A keen gardener - favourite plant is the Auricula -Jane is also fond of her Border Terrier , appropriately called 'Teddy'. Jane says that, when designing bears, she likes to combine elements from both traditional and modern styles. The expression in the face must speak of warmth and friendship. They are a form of therapy, she says, highly tactile and comforting. We couldn't agree more.
