Beatrix Harries was born and raised in Germany and moved to England in 1992 when she married her husband Gary. She now lives in Shropshire with her husband, daughter and three Labradors. In Germany she was a nurse in a doctor's surgery but her life changed completely when she moved to England. Up until then, she had never even dreamed of making Teddy Bears. She says her introduction to bear making was almost 'by accident' when a friend gave her a bear making kit as a present. Beatrix, always creative, found she was hooked. That was quite a few years ago and she has now lost count of the number of bears she has made since then. Beatrix is responsible for every aspect of her bears, from the initial design to the last stitch and has won many awards for her creations. She works full time from home and says that she is always full of new ideas and is not afraid to try out new things. As well as making bears she also teaches the art to other people. She says, "It is the encouragement of my customers that makes it all worthwhile". A sentiment that we agree with, entirely.
